9 Life Lessons from Video Games

Inspiration comes in many forms and sometimes, from unexpected places. Today we’re going to look at 9 life lessons from video games.

Lesson 1: Like video games, life will always be challenging and along the way your skills are developed with each level that’s completed. Every challenge that you face prepares you for what’s to come.

Lesson 2: Each stage is different. It never gets easier, every stage brings new challenges. You can either grumble that life threw you a water level, that the bosses are difficult or you can accept the challenges and be determined to conquer them.

Lesson 3: Every stage of life is challenging but when it gets really difficult, know that you’ve reached the end of level boss and once you conquer him, it will get better.

Lesson 4: Sometimes things won’t go your way. Thankfully there’s a reset button called tomorrow. You may have made mistakes today but you can always try again tomorrow.

Lesson 5: Remember that it’s okay to try again, most often on our first try, we miss a hidden treasure or an essential item that we needed to complete the level.

Lesson 6: Like using cheat codes while gaming, cheating may get you further quicker but know matter how hard you try, you’ll never feel satisfied and you’ll always feel like a fraud. It’s called guilt.

Lesson 7: It’s okay to ask someone thats completed your level for advice. Asking others isn’t cheating, it’s strategy. Life’s too short to make all the mistakes yourself so learn from other people’s mistakes.

Lesson 8: The game of life is taxing on your body and mind so always remember to take a break. Go out, get some fresh air, enjoy nature and relax so that you’ll be strong physically and mentally to take on the challenges that life has in store.

Lesson 9: It doesn’t matter how many coins you’ve collected or how many castles you’ve conquered. In the end, we can’t take it with us. All we have are the memories, so play to win but don’t take life to seriously. Ultimately it’s about enjoying the journey and watching the story unfold.

One more for the road…

And here is one bonus lesson, do you know why video games is a billion dollar industry? Because the story line of most games involves someone saving a princess or village or the world for that matter. We love the idea of being selfless and helping someone that can’t help themselves. We yearn to someday go on a quest to make a difference. Life is what you make of it, you don’t need to be a plumber or hedgehog to make a difference. Decide what difference you want to make in this world and become that difference. You are the hero of your story so give it your all and make it epic.
